What is Glossier?!

Friday, August 19, 2016

So what is Glossier? Great question! (Yes, I did just technically ask and answer myself haha). But I promise it's worth reading about! I had never heard of Glossier before until I was contacted by and outreach associate from the company advising me about the brand. So, of course, I had to check it out!

Glossier is a makeup brand that puts your skin first and makeup second. How does that work you may be asking yourself? Well. Glossier aims to provide makeup that enhances your flaws without completely distracting away from your natural beauty. It's makeup that gives you that little extra bit of confidence. (yes I did just come up with that all on my own. I think I should just quit my job and become a slogan writer? :D no? haha okay.)

Little side note: Glossier's products are specifically designed so that you don't even have to buy brushes. They want to make applying makeup simple and easy, that all you really need are your fingers ;)

I went on the website (check it out here) and instantly loved the design of everything! I especially love what they stand for. I personally love to go more natural when it comes to makeup. ESPECIALLY in the summer when makeup doesn't even last on your face. If it's just going to sweat off, then why make the effort to apply it. Just me?

After browsing through the website and coming across so many great products I was able to narrow myself down to two products. Which are the Generation G Matte Lipstick and Stretch Concealer. Both products were priced at $18. Which in my opinion was such a great deal! Being that typically high end concealers start at about $20. The lipstick was a little pricey at $18 but again high end lipsticks start at about $20. Plus, I typically don't think twice when it comes to spending money on lip products. I'm a sucker for anything lips! It's a problem...

Oh! Something I noticed when checking out. They didn't charge me taxes!!! I'm not sure if that was a one time thing or what but I was so excited to see that I paid an exact amount without having to pay extra for taxes. :D I was a happy camper haha.

The Matte Lipstick really caught my attention because it wasn't like any other. It was more of a 'popsicle' lip stain (as the website claims).  Did you ever eat a red popsicle when you were younger and intentionally rubbed the popsicle along your lips for color? Technically, I still do haha and I have no shame! Popsicles always leave such a pretty stain on your lips. So when I saw that I could get that effect without looking like a weirdo and numbing my lips, you can bet I was excited! :D

Shade: Jam

As for the concealer, I've been on the look out for a new concealer to try out because the one that I did have (the CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous concealer) was not my favorite. So I decided to give this one a try. They have a couple of shades (5 to be exact) ranging from Light to Rich. I got the middle color in the shade dark. I have to admit I was a bit nervous that the color wouldn't match, but it was actually a perfect match. When it comes to concealer I like for the concealer to be a good match with a little bit of a lighter tint just so that my eyes look more awake. The first thing I noticed when I tried on the concealer was how good it was at hiding my dark circles! On top of that, it literally didn't feel like I had anything on. The concealer is so light weight, which I love because it won't feel as cakey or thick under my eyes.

Shade: Dark

I just want to take a minute to appreciate the packaging! I'm a sucker for great packaging, to the point where I may or may not hoard them...
The first thing I noticed was how much pink there was :D I LOVE pink! #glossierpink
Secondly, I loved the cute little slogan "Skin First. Makeup Second. Smile Always."
Lastly, stickers!!! :D I immediately added them to the back of my phone and honestly had I just received the stickers I would have been a happy customer haha.

These stickers are now happily resting on the back of my phone :)

The products actually came inside of this cute little pink makeup bag, which I was hugely impressed by. Not only did I receive my products nicely packaged, but I received free stickers, a free makeup bag, and a cute poster (which is definitely going on my wall).

This is my "I'm so pleased by Glossier." and "I'm a little pissed that I've never heard about it before and I am only just know hearing about it" happy face :D haha

Best of all, the lipstick is literally so small and compact that you don't even have to carry a purse, you can simply just wear it behind your ear and look cool while doing it :D haha

All in all, I really enjoyed the products that I ordered and will definitely be buying more come next paycheck. I'm looking into the Boy Brow brow gel and the Milky Jelly Cleanser! As soon as I heard about this new website I had to share it with you guys! Let me know if you've heard about this brand before or if you're just hearing about it too. What are you currently loving?

A little Uncertainty never hurt nobody..

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

Guilty, I've neglected my blog as some of you may have noticed. I've just barely posted once every month. I guess you can say that I've lost myself in so many thoughts that I lost any sense of direction that I had or so thought I did. I recently, well not so recently, graduated from my community college and am no longer in school. I don't know if it's because I've been in school for literally 15 years of my life that now I don't know what to do.

We're expected to know what we want for ourselves the minute we graduate from high school. But I was never fully sure of what it was that I wanted. And I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. I mean I know what it is that I want to do but the thing is that I don't know how to get myself there. This feeling of uncertainty has lead me to feel unmotivated. I guess you can say that I've been stuck in a rut. A rut so deep, the ladder to climb out of it only reached half way through. So I was left to search for another way out. And I think I've realized what it is that I needed.

I need to not be so hard on myself. I need to not feel like my hobbies are pointless because I don't think they're going to get me anywhere. Blogging and making youtube videos have allowed me to express myself creatively in the past and it isn't any different now. So why push these things aside if they're good for me?

So here's to a new beginning. Because everyday is a new fresh start. I want to start posting again. I won't have a schedule for posting just because I feel like I work best without a schedule, at least to start out. Once I get back into the swing of things I'll try and stick to a schedule :) But as for now, hello!

Simple Pleasures

Friday, July 22, 2016

Hello Everyone! :D

I was tagged a while back by my beautiful friend Marianne from Don'tBurstMyBubble. I know it's been a while since I was tagged but hey its better late then never right ;) At least that's what I like to tell myself haha.

I want to do this tag because I love the message that it sends. "Simple Pleasures." Sometimes, when life gets hectic and we begin to feel like everything is out to get us, we tend to over look some of the positives in life. Those positives don't have to be huge, noticeable things but rather those little things that make you smile even when times are rough.

The rules:
  • List the simple things that make you happy
  • Tag others to do the same
My Simple little pleasures
  • Waking up before the alarm goes off (even if it's just by a minute)
  • Red Velvet Cake
  • Finding a new song (that I'll have on replay and soon get tired of)
  • A nice cold glass of water
  • Taking A Shower after a long day
  • Taking your shoes off after a long day
  • Taking your bra off after a long day ;)
  • Swimming
  • The fresh smell outside after it rains
  • Finding a random dollar in your pocket
  • When your favorite song comes up first on shuffle play
  • Crunchy Ice
  • Putting on clothes that are fresh out of the dryer (especially in the winter)
  • When I can make someone smile/laugh
  • Getting in a good workout
  • Finding a really cool journal
  • Finishing a journal (I have never succeeded at this but I'd imagine it would be beautiful :')
  • When your favorite youtuber uploads a new video
Okay, so those are just some of the ones I could think of off the top of my head. But let me know some of your favorite simple pleasures in the comments :)

I Tag Kim from (The Thirty Something Life) and Lor from (ACozySpace). You are not obligated to do the tag but I would love to see what some of your simple pleasure are if you would like to do the tag :)

"Keep Smiling"

Also, feel free to check out my new video :)

Mid Year Favorites!!

Sunday, June 19, 2016

Hey guys! :D

I realized that I haven't made a favorites post on here since a year ago! :O It was actually one of the first posts I ever made. So I thought it would be fun to do one again :) I'll skip the chit chat and get right into it :D

Favorite Scent:

Halle Berry Pure Orchid Perfume:

Do any of you have that one specific scent that you haven't been able to pull away from? Well this is that scent for me. I remember my mom bought me this perfume when I was a freshman in high school (well not this one exactly because that would be a miracle if it has lasted me that long). I absolutely loved it and have been going back to it ever since! :D I'm not great at describing scents but if I had to, I would say that it smells of summer. It has a warm florally scent to it. I think I've come to the realization that my all time favorite scent is anything orchid. Other scents (like candy scents and fruity scents) usually don't sit well with me (but only when I wear them).

Dial Cherry Blossom Hand Soap

Now you're probably wondering what the heck is a hand soap doing here haha but just trust me and you'll thank me later! I was hanging out at my friends house one day and we were going to eat so I asked if I could wash my hands. She had this exact hand soap on her sink so I used it and I could not stop smelling my hands! <3 It was just too good and so I had to go and get my hands on it (literally! haha) and now it has become my go to hand soap! I have the bottle in my room and just pump a few squirts of soap when ever I wash my hands because I am not about to run out of it because everyone else wants to use it haha.

Favorite Movie:

KiKi's Delivery Service:

This! Movie! Is! MY CHILDHOOD!!! I was obsessed with this movie when I was younger and I recently re-watched it because my sister gave it to me as a graduation present and I was reminded of it's awesomeness! I'm not big on anime films but this movie and "My Neighbor Totoro" are my absolute most favorite movies in the entire world. But Hands down Kiki's Delivery Service is the all time favorite. Have any of you ever seen this movie? and if so did you like it or not like it? let me know :)

Favorite Cleanser:

Micellar Cleansing Water:

So I'm a bit late to this but this "miracle water" has been all the hype lately! I was recommended to try this out by a friend of mine and at first I was a bit skeptical about it because I thought it was too oily. Once I started using it more and realized that you had to shake the bottle before using it (if you couldn't tell, I have a problem with reading instructions). I just love feeling like my face has been completely cleansed. Sometimes with makeup wipes you don't really get rid of all the dirt that is left on your face but this product does a really good job at doing so. I tend to go through about 4 cotton pads every night to completely remove all of the dirt and make up.

Crest 3D White Mouth Wash:

I realize how gross this sounds and believe me, I am grossed out myself but I have never used mouth wash before. But in my defense mouth wash burns!! And I could never handle it long enough to actually clean my mouth. But I recently discovered (okay so maybe I didn't discover it, my mom pointed it out) that they sell alcohol free mouth wash and it's like heaven has scent me a gift for being a good human being :) haha. How long has this existed? I was never aware of this but I'm glad that I've finally found it and it's always better late than never right? ;) So if you have a hard time with alcohol based mouth wash like me. I recommend you try this one :)

Favorite Foundation:

Make Up Forever HD:

I have always used the Maybelline BB Cream foundation as my go to, but this year I really wanted to try out a high end foundation to see what all the buzz was about. So I became an avid viewer of Daily Makeup routines on youtube and came to the conclusion that I wanted to try the Make Up Forever HD foundation. As soon as I tried this foundation I instantly loved how light weight it was! The coverage was great! I didn't want something that was too much coverage but that was build able and this foundation is just that. With a small layer you get a very natural coverage which is exactly what I wanted! What is your favorite foundation? :)

Favorite eye shadows:

Colour Pop Super Shock Eye Shadows!!

1. Sunset Blvd from the KaePop Collection (Gold)
2. Beverly from the KaePop Collection (Magenta)
3. Hustle (Purple)

This year, I have come to found how much I truly love colour pop products! I started out buying some of their matte lippies and eventually ventured out. I tried some of their blushes, a bronzer and a high lighter but I unfortunately was not a fan of them. I personally don't like creme based makeup. When I saw the pictures online I just assumed they would be powder based but they're some how a mix between a powder and a creme. The eye shadows are actually of similar texture but I really do love the eye shadows!! They're so pigmented, blend so nicely and absolutely beautiful! I'm definitely going to be buying more!

Favorite Lip Products:

Colour Pop Ultra Matte Lip:

Colors (top to bottom):
1. Limbo
2. Avenue
3. Tulle
4. Chilly Chilly
5. Stingraye
6. Beeper

All I need and want to say is... THESE are amazing and I cannot get enough of them :')
Have you ever tried these? Did you like them or were you not a fan of them?

Mac Lip Liners:

Colors (left to right)
1. Whirl
2. Spice

I love lip liners because you can use them on their own to fill in your lips and they do wonders to them. I love these two colors the most because they're so natural looking.

Lorac Pro Matte Lip Color:

Color: Merlot

I bought this lip stick back in January and it was my go to for the longest time! I haven't used it as much but I think i'm going to start wearing it again. By the way, whenever I wear this color I get a lot of complements ;) So go get yourself one! :D <3

Kat Von D Ever Lasting Liquid Lipstick:

Color (center one): Lolita

I never ever want this product to end! It is my favorite and my go to all day everyday!! I had purchased one of these liquid lipsticks before at the end of last year in the color OutLaw (red) and while it is a very beautiful color I didn't like how it looked on me and I didn't like how difficult it was to work with. But that's because it's such a bold color that you have to work fast with it and make sure to not accidentally smudge outside of your lips other wise it makes a big mess. I think it was just about finding the right shade. Now this has become my daily lip color and I'm not even made about it.

Mac Lip Stick:

Color (left) : Amorous

If anyone has ever told you how amazing mac lipsticks are and you didn't believe them and accused them of being materialists because of the brand, well it's time you start apologizing because mac lip sticks are the best lip sticks in the world!!!! They're the perfect consistency of creamy and long lasting and they keep your lips moisturized all day long.

What are some of your favorites? :)

Summer List

Thursday, May 19, 2016

Hey Guys :D
It's been a while since I last updated on here, 2 months 2 weeks and 4 days to be exact, but who's counting? haha

I pretty much lost all inspiration to write when school picked back up again and I had to take a news writing class. Writing for that class basically took all my will to write and so my blog lost its priority. But not to worry, I am now done with that class and school completely (well for a while until I go back to get my bachelors).

Since school is now over and summer is right around the corner, I thought I'd come up with a bucket list of things I want to do this summer. These are all simple things but they're enough to keep me productive, so that I don't end up wasting my summer being lazy all the time.

Here are some of the things I want to do:

1. Read more books

As soon as school started I put my books down and my new passion for reading had died down. I couldn't find the time between work and school to pick up a book and read for leisure. So I want to get back into reading! :D However I don't have any books in mind at the moment, but I shall do some research. Let me know in the comments if you have any recommendations for books that I should read. :)

2. Journal

I've said this one plenty of time before and have failed to do so numerous times. But I really want to make a habit out of this one. I somehow can always start a journal but can never finish it, so I end up with thousands of notebooks that are only half filled because I see a new cute journal and I want to buy it even though I still have a perfectly good one at home.

3. Make more videos

As with my blog, it has been quite a challenge coming up with video ideas. Between school and work all of my energy is taken up by the time I get home. And though that shouldn't be a problem, it can get a bit too much for someone who is really introverted. Being in social situations where I'm forced to speak to others and constantly try not to mess up pretty much drains me by the end of it. So now that I'll have more free time, I'll be able to channel my creative juices and come up with more fun video ideas and just really get more into the youtube world of creating content :D

4. Vlog

I personally don't think I would be a good vlogger simply because I'm not that interesting or have much to do. But I do want to vlog more this summer, even if the videos don't get uploaded. I just want to record to have memories for when I'm older and to look back on and see what I was like at the age of 19.

5. Eat Breakfast Every Day

I know for a fact that a lot of us like to skip breakfast because we don't think it's necessary. But as a matter of fact, breakfast is very important! They are kidding when they say "breakfast is the most important meal of the day". Without breakfast, your body doesn't have the energy that it needs to get you going through the day.  It's also really hard on your body and though you may not see how it affects you know, it will have an effect someday. I'm guilty of doing so and I want to make a change. So later today I am going to go out and buy some fruit, cereal, and other meals to prepare.

6. Go to the gym more often

I got a gym membership at the beginning of the year and I have gone many times but I'm not consistent with it. So this summer I want to make an effort to go at least 3 times a week and slowly work it up to 4 days a week to 5 days a week and so on. This is not necessarily to just lose weight but to be healthier and feel healthier. I just love the feeling of waking up early and going to get a workout. You feel so good afterwards and I think that's something my body would enjoy more of.

This is just little reminder of the things that I want to do more of this summer, which I hope to actually do haha. What are some of your plans for this summer? Let me know down below :)

For those of you who don't know, FOMO basically means fear of missing out.
I don't mean it in a way that I'm missing out on what the world has to offer. But the fear of missing out on being with my family and making memories. I really really want to go off to a University but the fear of missing out is what keeps me from going through with it.

I never used to feel ready to leave but part of me feels ready now. Though like I said, the fear of missing out on spending quality time with my family scares me. I'm scared that I'll miss all these opportunities to laugh and be happy with them. I don't mean to sound like a downer and just saying this kills me, but no one is around forever. And that is why I can't get myself to leave. I don't want to leave and miss out on the only time I have left with my family. But I also do want to go out and see what's outside of my home town. I want to experience being on my own and meet new people and just grow as a person through the experiences I'll encounter. But how will I do that if I can't get myself to walk outside of my comfort zone?

So today I ask you for help. How do you deal with 'missing out'? How do you gain the strength to leave the comfort of your own home?

I'm Scared, but that's okay

How do I even begin?

I'm an ambitious and driven person. I dream a lot, and I have all these goals that I've set out for myself. I always dream about having this amazing career and being happy but as soon as I give myself a moment to start thinking, I scare myself away and suddenly my goals and dreams become unreachable. For some reason, the darkness in my head clouds my vision and I can no longer grasp a hold of those desires I once had. I fall back into this pit of darkness where I just end up getting by and hoping that somehow everything magically finds it's way to me. But that's not how life works! The only way that dreams become real is if you get yourself up out of that darkness and start fighting for what you want. You are the only thing that can make things happen for you! Yes, fear is so powerful! Fear has the ability to drag you down but you can't let it control your life forever. It's going to tug at you and mess with you to get you to give up but in the end, fear is non existent. It only exists if you allow it too. So pick yourself up, one step at a time and start fighting your battles. Learn, live, experience, fall down, and pick yourself right back up. Life is but a book of lessons that with every page you turn you meet new characters (good and bad), you experience new stories, and you learn new lessons. So don't just sit around and leave your book unread. See what the world has to offer you and even when you feel scared, keep going. Because even though fear cannot be escaped, you can overcome it ♥

Just think of all those moments in which you were afraid at the start but when you came out of that situation everything was fine. In fact not just fine but you actually had a great time, you learned new things, and you met amazing people. Remember all those times you overcame fear and things were perfectly fine.

It's time for a change

Sunday, January 17, 2016

So you may or may not have noticed that I was gone for a while. Though I promise it was for a very good reason. I've been productive :D Which is great because I'm so used to the constant same old routine of being lazy and not doing anything. In the time that I was gone, I got a job! Which I think I did mention on here. It's been going great, but I still get a bit of work anxiety when dealing with customers, but it's okay because this experience will help me get out of my comfort zone. Which is what brings me to this post.

I'm the type of person who will say no to a lot of things because I tend to always think about the worst. I've had enough of that! I want to start saying yes to more things and actually living. I mean I have every other day of my life to just lounge around and do nothing but when I don't take up opportunities and cease the moment I feel as if my days are being wasted.

Think about it. We were given the gift of life and yet we chose to just sit around and watch life go by. So let's start ceasing the moments and enjoying life for what it has to offer. Go outside of your comfort zone, sure it may seem scary at first but in the end you'll have had an amazing time. Although, I wouldn't say to say yes to everything because there are certain situations that you shouldn't get yourself into. But for those moments when you are offered to do something you've always wanted to do but were too scared to do the first time, say yes to more of those. Just remember that it's great to say YES to more things, but it's also okay to say no as well. Take things at your own pace.

(P.S. This is a very short post with no sense of direction really, but I wanted to share something that's been on my mind lately with you guys :) I kind of want to start a post series where I post thoughts that I've been having, kind of like a diary but online.

What's been on your mind lately? any New Years Resolutions?
